HP joins the Cloud with EASY

Archive CLOUD service from German HP computer center with reviewed data storage and data transmission
Mülheim an der Ruhr (Germany), September 28, 2011 – HP Germany now offers revision-proof archiving as a cloud service. This is based on the archive solutions from EASY SOFTWARE AG running in German HP computer centers. The cloud service is not public; it can only be accessed by customers with a contract (hosted private cloud). A review report on regularity of archiving and data transmission as part of the new HP cloud service is available. Anyone who wants to use that service pays a fixed monthly rate, plus a fee per gigabyte memory used. The minimum period is three months. The new cloud service extends the comprehensive “HP Utility Services” suite. This includes standardized and modularized IT services that are obtained on request and are paid as a service.
“Legally compliant archiving is a must; more often than not, however, it’s not part of an organization’s core business, which is why using a standardized service is useful here,” says Gudrun Heim, Director Midsize Business at HP Enterprise Services Deutschland. “Our new cloud offering not only enables customers to save expenditure and costs for installation and licenses; they’re also legally and technically on the safe side.”
The first step is that the new Cloud service is available to archive data and documents from the SAP Business Suite and Microsoft Exchange. It does not matter where the SAP or Exchange systems are running – whether on the customer’s site, in the HP computer center or with another IT service provider. In the case of SAP, for instance, the listed prices for the use of this archiving service amount to a monthly fee of € 635, plus € 1.70 per month per gigabyte memory actually used.
HP will grant discounts to customers committing themselves to accepting a specific volume or adhering to a specific acceptance period.

EES focuses on servicing the Cloud and OEM market via partnership alliances, both in tandem with Cloud platform operators and computer centers as well as with software manufacturers.

Overall, HP offers more than 20 different utility services. These include applications (e.g. SAP, Microsoft CRM), infrastructure (e.g. Virtual Desktop, servers, stores, databases) and messaging (e.g. Exchange, SharePoint). With their modular structure, the HP Utility Services can be individually customized to business requirements. A Web portal allows customers to order the services and cancel them. This gives them an overview of actual usage and costs. The pay-as-you-go model of HP Utility Services enables enterprises to convert fixed costs into variable costs, allowing them to respond fast to economic changes. HP Utility Services are used by several hundred customers in 30 countries.
